Sport & Leisure — Solihull Sixth Form College

Sport & Leisure

Fitness SuiteThe College is proud of its sporting programme. We have helped to nurture some very talented athletes over the years who have achieved success, thanks to the excellent teaching and superb facilities at the College.

As well as those students studying sports-related courses like BTEC Sport at the College, sport is offered as an enrichment option.

Enrichment is an activity that the College offers for students to participate in alongside their programme of studies. It does not have to be sporting in nature, but for those so inclined there is a huge choice of competitive and recreational activities to join in with.

Sports that students can participate in are football, rugby, basketball, ladies football, netball and cricket and our teams compete in local & national league competitions.

We enjoy a fruitful association with the City of Birmingham Rockets Basketball Club, which sees students balancing their academic studies with us, while also benefiting from expert coaching too.

In rugby, we work with Moseley Rugby Club, delivering rugby coaching at training and matches. The players are also hosted for a couple of days each season at the club for a day of rugby training, gym work and video analysis.

An honours board, showing the achievements of our performance squads can be seen below.

For those participating for purely recreational reasons, the College caters for that via a range of enrichment options, including indoor football, badminton, squash, table tennis, indoor cricket, 3 v 3 basketball, and tennis.

The College also has a Fitness Suite, which includes rowing machines, exercise bikes and weights, which is available after an induction session and health check. The Suite is then available for students to use in their spare time.

The Sports Centre offers full disabled access.
