Thank you for applying to Solihull Sixth Form College for a place in September 2020.
The current Covid-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown mean we are having to deal with applications a bit differently than we normally would. Most applications (unless completed very recently) have been processed and telephone interviews undertaken. Everyone with an offer made up to mid-June was invited to a week of online events called Welcome to College Week which took place from 22 – 26 June 2020. If you missed these sessions, it is possible to watch recordings.
Wanting to change subjects?
Please watch the recorded subject sessions that took place during Welcome to College Week in the week commencing 22 June before requesting changes. This includes the sessions you currently have an offer in and the sessions for subjects you want to change to. If, after viewing these sessions, you still want to change subjects please fill in the Subject Change Request Form. This will send the request to the Admissions Office. We will not change your offer until enrolment, but the Admissions Office will make a note of your request, which will make it easier for your enrolment interviewer in August. Summer Homework has been set for all our courses – please attempt this work for all the subjects you are planning on enrolling into and hand it in during your first lessons in September.
Waiting for Interview?
If you have submitted your application prior to 30 June, but not yet been interviewed, please contact the Admissions Office to enquire about a telephone interview. The majority of interviews have been completed. If you only completed your application after 30 June, we are unfortunately no longer able to complete interviews with applicants ahead of enrolment. Please note, all applications received from 1 July 2020 onwards will be classed as “Late Applications” and will be held on a waiting list until enrolment, which takes place towards the end of August (after GCSE Results are known). We will endeavour to invite late applicants in for an interview during our late enrolment period at the end of August, though you should be aware that, whilst we will aim to meet your preferences, some courses or course combinations may no longer be available at that stage.
The timing of your interview does not affect your chances of enrolling at the College. If we make you an offer and you go on to get the grades to meet our entry requirements and have a good reference from your school, you will be able to enrol this September.
Bridging the Gap
Get ready for your college place by taking advantage of our Bridging the Gap resources for Year 11 students. Our teachers have put together resources to prepare students for all of our A level, BTEC and CACHE courses. It includes suggested reading, links to podcasts, videos and other online activities. It aims to keep you academically stimulated and help prepare you for the challenge of advanced level learning.
Our entry requirements do still apply. Make sure you check the course pages for the subjects you are interested in to see if there are any subject-specific requirements too. GCSE results day is on Thursday 20 August and enrolment will take place on Tuesday 25 and Wednesday 26 August 2020. We will write to you over the summer with a specific date and time for you to come in for your enrolment.
