BTEC Sport at Wolverhampton

Sports learners at Solihull Sixth Form College visited the University of Wolverhampton this term to coincide with the launch of BTEC Sport Professional Development in the Sports Industry unit.

Students on the Single and Triple BTEC Sport courses went on the trip, during which staff at the university delivered a mixture of practical and theory sessions with the aim of widening learners knowledge of careers pathways in the sport industry. There was also an overview of a range of courses they offer at undergraduate level, including Physical Education, Sport Therapy, Football Coaching and Performance, and Sport and Exercise Science.

Highlights of the day were use of the new multi-million pound strength and conditioning gym and the environmental chamber. Students also very much enjoyed the session in the Human Movement Laboratory where they got to test themselves with a range of sport science equipment.

Sport & Health Curriculum Leader Lee Jones commented:

“The 50 young people who attended the University of Wolverhampton all gained praise from the lecturers for their positive attitude and excellent behaviour throughout the day. They did the College proud and learned a lot.”
