Tickets for Open Day 2023

Solihull Sixth Form College is celebrating 50 years of excellence during this academic year and will be opening its doors to prospective students and their families in October as the first Open Day takes place.

Open Day takes place on Saturday 21 October from 9.30am – 3.30pm. Last entry is at 2.30pm and timed entry tickets via Eventbrite are now available free of charge at www.solihullsfc.ac.uk/open-days.

Teachers and current learners will be available in all curriculum areas to talk about our wide range of A level, BTEC and T level courses and showcase our latest successes. The recently published exam results included 1,207 A*/A and Distinction*/Distinction grades at A level, CACHE Childcare and BTEC. The pass rate at A level was 98.2%, with 76% A* – C grades. At BTEC, the pass rate was 99.9% and 96% achieved high grades (Merit and above), while all CACHE Childcare students got top grades.

College Principal Dr Martin Sullivan will be delivering presentations throughout the day, offering Year 11 learners, as well as their parents and carers, the opportunity to learn more about the ethos of the College.

He commented:

“We are approaching the 50th anniversary of the opening of the College. In the last half century, we have established a reputation for high academic standards and superb support for young people progressing onto university, apprenticeships, further training and employment after college. We want to show prospective students and their families why that reputation is well deserved, so I urge young people across Birmingham and Solihull to visit us this term and see for themselves. They can expect expert advice from subject specialists and a valuable insight into the support we offer to young people.”

The support services of the College will be showcased at Open Day too, with staff on hand to offer advice on careers, academic coaching, additional learning support, financial support, student welfare and the admissions process. Information about the enrichment options the College offers, ranging from sport, music, drama, visual arts, volunteering to academic options will also be showcased.
