Teenscope Issue 2 Published

A student magazine written by learners at Solihull Sixth Form College for their peers has just been published.

Issue 2 of Teenscope features articles written by the Student Magazine enrichment group during the Spring Term. With one issue per term, the Spring edition features some meaty topics, including gender and feminism, oppression of women and intersectionality and unlocking your future by completing work experience. Students Lily Beddows and Olivia Jennings did a lot of the writing this issue, with fellow learner Leah Berry contributing a piece of creative writing entitled “Speechless” and Shayma Ishaq adding a review of the horror movie “M3GAN”.

The article was put together with the help of English teacher Roy Preston, who designed the magazine and used some photography from student Leah Scarlett. This was arranged by student Ruby Jones, who contributed strongly to the production of this issue.

Roy Preston commented:

“The students who are part of this enrichment have wanted to write about issues they care about and showcase their creative writing skills. We have had some excellent writing and because these are things they care about, we think they will be issues that other students are interested in too.”

The Spring issue of Teenscape is available to read by clicking the magazine cover above. Work has already started on a Summer issue, with learners who are not currently part of the Student Magazine enrichment also invited to get involved, whether it be by writing or doing photography. Submissions of work can be sent to English teacher Roy Preston.
