Psychology learners at Solihull Sixth Form College have been expanding their knowledge with a series of talks from visiting speakers this term.
An academic from Birmingham City University and a clinical psychologist working in the NHS came onto campus to talk to Psychology students to support their A level studies.
In March, Research Psychologist Dr Paraic Scanlon from Birmingham City University came into College to deliver a presentation to A level Psychology students entitled “How do we look at the brain?”. This was preceded by a talk in February from a working clinical psychologist Dr Anita Holtom-Viesel, who spoke to learners about her job in the NHS and how to pursue a career in that area.
Psychology Curriculum Leader Nicola Holmes commented:
“We are grateful to Dr Scanlon and Dr Holtom-Viesel for giving up their valuable time to speak with our young people. Not only were the presentations hugely relevant to the A level syllabus, but they also provided learners with a fantastic insight into possible future careers.”
