International Cricket Call-up

A talented cricketer studying at Solihull Sixth Form College had the opportunity to represent the England Cricket team at Under-17 level at an international tournament recently.

Year 13 student Rehan Chishti travelled to Dubai recently to compete in the Junior World Series Indoor Cricket tournament and played 9 of the 11 matches for the England U-17 team. 30 teams took part in the tournament, with 360 junior boys and girls involved. Rehan is a keen cricketer and plays both indoor and outdoor cricket. He currently plays for Ward End Cricket Club.

Rehan commented: “Going to Dubai for this tournament was a good experience and I was pleased with how I played. We had a good tournament and enjoyed the matches very much.”

College Principal Martin Sullivan added:

“It was great to meet with Rehan and hear about his exciting trip to Dubai. It is a pleasure to support our learners in their achievements outside of College and I wish Rehan the best of luck with his blossoming cricket career in the future.”

Rehan juggles his cricket commitments with studying A levels in Chemistry, Mathematics and Physics. He has high aspirations to progress to university to study Architecture and hopes to advance his cricket career alongside his academic ambition.
