Deaf World Campus Visit — Solihull Sixth Form College

Deaf World Campus Visit

Students at Solihull Sixth Form College who are part of the Hearing Impaired Club enjoyed a visit from West Midlands based charity Deaf World recently.

Representatives from Deaf World visited the College to speak to tell the students about the opportunities they offer for young people with a hearing difficulty. The charity’s British Sign Lanugage (BSL) signer, Mitch Atterbury (left on the picture), was a previous student of Solihull Sixth Form College. He has become an accomplished BSL user and interpreter and his interest in and passion for BSL was sparked through taking a level 1 enrichment at the College some 10 years ago.

Caroline Sweeney, the College’s Additional Learning Curriculum Leader, commented:

“Maxine Robinson leads the group and made initial contact with Deaf World, which resulted in yhis visit, so massive thanks go to Maxine and to the staff from Deaf World for giving up their time. Our students found the session interesting, informative and inspirational.”
