Business Ethics Talk at Cadburys — Solihull Sixth Form College

Business Ethics Talk at Cadburys

Religious Studies learners at Solihull Sixth Form College recently visited Cadbury World in Birmingham for a lecture on Business Ethics.

25 students on the A level Religious Studies course went on the fieldtrip, during which learners were educated on the Cadbury family history, Quaker beliefs and philanthropy and how the company addresses issues in the modern world such as globalisation, whistleblowing and Corporate Social responsibility. The bespoke lecture was designed specifically for the OCR specification on Business Ethics and ideally suited to support the students’ A level course.

As well as the lecture, there was time after the talk for learners to enjoy activities at the attraction, including writing in chocolate and a 4D cinema experience.

Joanna Taylor, Religious Studies teacher at the College, commented:

“The origins of Cadbury World, including the Quaker beliefs of the Cadbury family and their philanthropic history, are an ideal case study to support the A level Religious Studies course. Our young people enjoyed the visit, which combined a visit to the attraction with the history of the organisation.”

Prospective students wanting to learn more about the Religious Studies course, as well as the College’s extensive range of other A level, BTEC and T level courses, are encouraged to book a place at the Spring Talks & Tours event in March. Talks from the Principal Martin Sullivan and campus tours from existing learners are available at 5.00pm and 6.00pm on Thursday 7 March 2024. Admission is free, but tickets must be booked in advance.
