Creative Media students at Solihull Sixth Form College have been honoured for their achievements this year, as the inaugural BTEC Creative Media Awards ceremony took place at the end of term.
The first incarnation of these awards saw students nominated in a variety of categories, ranging from ‘Best Cinematography’ and ‘Best Sound’ to ‘Best Editing’ and ‘Best Hair, Costume & Make-up’. There were also awards for the coveted ‘Best Director’ and ‘Best Film’ categories, which saw worthy winners in Callum Alcock for his sterling directorial work on the acclaimed Thriller ‘The Detective & The Wolf’ and Hannah Maloney for the Horror masterpiece ‘Fragments of The Consumed Mind’.
Creative Media Technician Connor Morewood, who organised & hosted the event, commented:
“It was fantastic to be able to celebrate and showcase the excellent work our students have produced this year. Building on the success of the event, the Creative Media team hope to expand the ceremony in 2024 to include both Year 12 and Year 13 Creative Media cohorts, parents & carers and perhaps even a special guest from industry!”
Curriculum Leader for Media & IT, Rasbinder Gill, added her congratulations:
“The students have produced some fantastic work this year, including a variety of horror films and music videos. It was a pleasure to see their work celebrated in our very own Oscar ceremony.”
