2023 A level & BTEC Success

Students at Solihull Sixth Form College, which is part of Summit Learning Trust are celebrating an excellent set of A level, BTEC and CACHE results this year, with an impressive 98% pass rate across all courses.

At A Level, 45% of grades being A* – B. 100% of CACHE students passed, while 99.9% of BTEC learners did likewise. Many of our learners were awarded impressive A/A* and Distinction/Distinction* grades again this year which reflects their dedication and commitment. These results will enable our learners to access exciting opportunities and continue scaling new heights in higher education at university, training or employment within our local region and beyond.

Among the many successes again this year is Estella Hope, who joined Solihull Sixth Form College from Cockshut Hill School (also part of the Summit Learning Trust family) who has secured a place at the University of Cambridge to study Theology having achieved an A* and two A grades in her A levels.

Meanwhile, Amrit Rooprai (a former overseas student, who studied in Kenya), has confirmed her place at the University of Oxford to study Medicine after securing three A* grades at A level.

As well as achievement at A level, BTEC and CACHE Diploma students also got their results today and achieved excellent grades. Among them was Adam Bashir (formerly from Lyndon School), who achieved two Distinction* grades and one Distinction in his BTEC Extended Diploma in Applied Science course. He is progressing to Aston University to study Pharmacy thanks to his superb BTEC attainment.

Dr Martin Sullivan, Principal of Solihull Sixth Form College commented:

“I am proud of all our young people. Both students and their families have had a nervous wait over the summer to find out their results and these excellent grades are just reward for their hard work and determination. I wish our departing Year 13 students all the very best as they progress onto exciting destinations this autumn. I also want to pass on my congratulations to my colleagues at Solihull Sixth Form College for their dedication and commitment to their students.”

Vince Green, Chief Executive Officer of Summit Learning Trust added:

“Our young people have performed superbly in their post-16 qualifications this year and have demonstrated their high levels of resilience after not sitting formal GCSE examinations in 2021. Congratulations to all of our learners who are receiving results today and huge thanks to the brilliant team of colleagues at our Solihull Sixth Form College, and to our families, for the amazing support that you have provided these young people with over the past two years. These outcomes will give this cohort excellent life chances in the future.”
