Ameera Capper
Student Governor
Studying English Language, Politics, and History in Year 13 has shown me how ideas shape people - and how people can shape change. As a Student Governor, I’m passionate about turning student voices into meaningful action, particularly around key issues such as tackling sexual harassment and promoting equality. This year, we’ve not only focused on educating younger students in primary schools about respect and equality, but also raised these conversations in College meetings to ensure lasting, institution-wide change.
My previous experiences as Head Girl, a Duke of Edinburgh Silver and Bronze participant, and a volunteer at both a horse stables and a charity shop have all strengthened my sense of leadership, empathy, and teamwork. Alongside my part-time job as a waitress and my involvement in Women in STEM Youth Volunteering sessions, I’ve learned the importance of listening to others and creating space for every voice to be heard.
Solihull Sixth Form College has given me countless opportunities to grow - both academically and personally - and I’m proud to give something back by helping to shape a supportive, ambitious, and inclusive environment for all students.
