College Awards
Every year we hand out awards in all our courses, as well as extra curricular prizes. The 2026 Awards ceremony was held at Renewal Solihull. Here is a list of all the winners and the reasons they were given awards.

Accounting - Muna Rashid
Muna has worked extremely hard, both in class and at home, to become an exceptional student in Accounting. She consistently achieves excellent results in key assessments, and she can tackle the most challenging topics in the subject. Her dedication is demonstrated by her 100% attendance in the subject. It is joyful to see her constant enthusiasm to learn more and her drive to be a brilliant Accounting student. Muna has mastered the technique of evaluating complex accounting information and she writes well-structured essays which demonstrate her range of skills. Muna deserves this commendation for her excellent assessment results, dedication and determination to succeed in her forthcoming A levels.
Accounting - Rehaan Rashid
Rehaan has demonstrated exceptional talent and academic ability in Accounting. He is a high-performing student who recently achieved an A* grade in his mock examinations, showing a mastery of the subject's most complex principles. His success is a clear result of his sharp analytical skills and a strong work ethic outside of the classroom. Rehaan puts in significant effort to master the syllabus and shows a proactive attitude toward his independent studies. He deserves this commendation for his excellent exam results, his natural aptitude for the subject, and the clear dedication he shows to achieving his full potential in his forthcoming A levels.
Applied Science (BTEC Ext Cert) - Sama Badr
Sama has worked consistently across the two years of this course. She ensures that her coursework is always completed to the highest standard. She is hard-working, polite and focused in lessons. She also works well with her peers, taking a leading role in practical work.
Applied Science (BTEC Ext Cert) - Mikail Khan
Mikhail is consistently hard-working, responsible, and always meets deadlines. He takes a leading role in practical work and is a role-model to his peers.
Applied Science (BTEC Ext Dip) - Shemaa Al-Shouli
Shemaa is an exceptionally hard‑working, proactive, and consistently polite student whose positive attitude makes her a pleasure to have in the classroom. She exemplifies the qualities of a model BTEC Applied Science learner, always approaching her studies with dedication and maturity.

Adam consistently demonstrates exceptional focus and full participation in every lesson. His independent study is always completed to an outstanding standard, and he is truly a pleasure to have in the classroom.

Art & Design Practice (BTEC Ext Dip) - Luca Agavriloaei
Congratulations Luca, you have worked so well in Year 13 and grown and developed in your skills across the disciplines. You have a much clearer understanding of how to develop as a designer and what your ethos and ideas are for future architecture and design. You have explored and become more confident in your aspirations to study Architecture in the future and I look forward to where this takes you.
Biology - Kirzten Romena
Kirzten has demonstrated exceptional dedication in Biology over the past two years, consistently producing immaculate independent work and showing remarkable proactivity. Her work in lessons is always exemplary, and she regularly takes a key role in practical work. Friendly, supportive, and always willing to help others, she embodies the qualities of a model student. It has been a genuine pleasure to teach her.
Biology - Minal Hashmi
Minal has consistently exceeded her baseline grades in all her Biology key assessments over the past two years. She has demonstrated a strong commitment to her learning, supported by excellent independent study habits. In particular, the weekly revision resources she produces are exemplary, reflecting both her organisation and depth of understanding. Minal’s dedication and proactive approach to her studies make her a truly commendable student.
Business - Mustafa Syed
Mustafa demonstrates consistent hard work. He brings additional essays to be marked every lesson and is constantly striving for improvements. He is an outstanding student.
Business - Kareena Kaur
Kareena has excelled throughout Year 13 and her key assessment results place her as the number 1 student out of a year group of 160. She works in a calm and friendly manner, helping her peers where possible and not allowing her success in the subject to spoil her natural kindness. Kareena works in a quiet and effective manner and did not demonstrate any anxiety or stress in achieving her A* grade in her mock exam. Kareena is hard-working, independent and a real pleasure to have in the class and she truly deserves all the success she will achieve.
Business (BTEC Nat Dip) - Ethan Wragg
Ethan consistently demonstrates a proactive and independent approach to learning, showing resilience in completing coursework and achieving strong exam results. His positive attitude, commitment to producing high‑quality work, and steady determination make him a standout member of the class. As a role model to his peers, he leads by example and we wish him well in his future career.
Business (BTEC Nat Dip) - Will Storrie
Will has demonstrated exceptional progression in his transition from Year 12 to Year 13, showing a high level of maturity and professionalism in all aspects of his BTEC Business studies. His consistent attendance, strong work ethic and proactive communication make him a worthy candidate for a BTEC Business achievement award.
Business (BTEC Ext Dip) - Hannah May
Hannah is an exemplary BTEC Business student, who has shown outstanding personal and academic growth from Year 12 to Year 13. Her consistent performance in class reflects both her strong subject knowledge and her determination to excel. She is highly adaptable, working collaboratively with peers, while also excelling in independent tasks. Her maturity, dedication, and positive attitude make her not only a model student, but a valuable role model for others within the BTEC Business cohort.
Business (BTEC Ext Dip) - Ben McInnes
Ben has truly stood out in Year 13, elevating his performance to a higher level than in Year 12. He communicates exceptionally well with both peers and teachers, and he generously supports other students by sharing his strong knowledge and understanding of Business concepts. Ben’s consistent high grades across both external examination units and internal coursework reflect his dedication and academic strength. In Year 12, he embraced the opportunity to attend the Malta work‑experience trip, making the most of every moment and demonstrating maturity, initiative, and professionalism. Ben is a deserving recipient of this award.
Chemistry - Sophia Thom
Sophia is an exceptionably able Chemistry student who sets herself high standards and works tirelessly to achieve them. Her voracious curiosity has led her to explore areas she will encounter in Chemistry at university. She also achieved a Gold award in the challenging Royal Society of Chemistry Olympiad exam.
Chemistry - Anna Griffiths
Anna has performed at an exceptionally high standard throughout the whole of her Chemistry course. She is a gifted student with a natural ability in science.
John Sleigh Award - Shirush Santhirakumar
From his first day at college, Shirush has been fully committed to his studies. This has been rewarded with impressive improvements in Chemistry and is all due to his hard-working nature through which he has shown a genuine interest in the subject.
Computer Science - Zayan Rahman
Zayan is an exceptionally dedicated and resourceful student, who has demonstrated impressive initiative through his Extended Project Qualification, where he independently designed and developed a game using Unity. His passion for Computer Science is evident not only in the quality of his own work, but also in his willingness to support his peers. He consistently shared solutions to technical challenges encountered during the coursework, which benefitted the entire class. Zayan has a natural problem-solving ability and is often the first to identify effective solutions. His studious attitude and commitment ensure that he gives 100% effort both in and outside of lessons. He is a pleasure to teach.
Computer Science - Taherul Islam
Taherul is an exceptionally diligent and high‑performing Computer Science student, whose commitment has been unwavering across both years of the course. His outstanding attendance reflects a mature and disciplined attitude to learning, and this is consistently mirrored in his academic performance, where he has achieved A and A* grades in every key assessment. His programming coursework demonstrates a high level of technical proficiency, with well‑structured, efficient, and thoughtfully designed code that showcases both creativity and strong problem‑solving ability. He approaches challenges with determination and independence, often exploring solutions beyond the expected curriculum. His quiet confidence, reliability, and consistent effort make him a pleasure to teach and an excellent role model for his peers.
Criminology - Natalie Parker
Natalie is a hard-working, self-motivated and organised student of Criminology, who actively participates in class and consistently achieves high grades.
Criminology - James Evans
James is an exceptional student who is committed to Criminology, has consistently worked incredibly hard for two years and has never faltered. He has gone on to achieve amazing results through his commitment and dedication, which deserves to be recognised.
Drama - Lola Hanratty
Lola is a quietly powerful force on our A level Drama course and a role model whose dedication, intelligence and talent inspire her peers. With exceptional skill, she shines in directing, performing and designing, always collaborating with consideration and commitment. Lola’s drive to push herself and improve is outstanding and she has made excellent progress throughout the course. We’re so proud to recognise her achievements.
Drama - Maya Phillips-Patel
Maya is a captivating performer whose dedication, talent and passion for Drama have led to outstanding progress throughout her A level course. A standout achievement was Maya’s devising production, where she produced a powerful piece of theatre exploring female injustice. Her vision, leadership and artistry brought a bold, impactful story to life, demonstrating remarkable skill and creativity. We are incredibly proud of her achievements and cannot wait to see where her talent takes her next.
Economics - Sean Kwong
Sean has achieved consistent success in assessments due to excellent attendance, punctuality, a strong work ethic and enthusiasm. He sets the tone in class discussions as well and asks questions that show his level of research and understanding of Economics. Sean will often go out of his way to help other learners.
Economics - Marwa Al Murad
Marwa has demonstrated tremendous effort outside of lessons to ensure that she developed and extended her understanding of Economics despite finding the subject challenging.
Education & Early Years (T level) - Grace Bartle
Grace is a quiet and thoughtful student, who has shown consistent dedication to her studies throughout the course. During her placement, she has proven herself to be an outstanding practitioner, building positive and meaningful relationships with both the children and the team she works alongside. In the classroom, Grace is diligent and hard-working, demonstrating a strong commitment to her learning and setting an excellent example as a role model for her peers.
Education & Early Years (T level) - Izzy Robinson
Izzy has demonstrated exceptional dedication throughout Year 13 of her T level, consistently applying herself with determination and professionalism. During her placement, she has carefully planned and delivered a range of creative and engaging activities, making a meaningful impact on the children she supports. In the classroom, she has significantly developed both her knowledge and confidence, contributing thoughtful insights and demonstrating a deepening understanding of her practice.
English Language - Lilly Mole
Throughout the course, Lily has worked with unwavering dedication and enthusiasm. She is always keen to take on feedback and takes real care in the work she produces. She has applied herself both in and outside of lessons without fail.
English Language - Emily Scharf
Emily has worked really hard over the duration of the course. She is consistently enthusiastic and always has a contribution to offer the class, often based on her ability to connect ideas from many different areas of interest. Emily is a role model to others: polite, enthusiastic with a great sense of humour, and is a valued group member who can be relied on to make lessons sparkle a little last thing on a Friday afternoon.
English Literature - Violet Brocklehurst
Violet has consistently demonstrated the qualities of an outstanding and serious Literature student, approaching her studies with maturity and diligence. She has developed impressive skills to complement her instinctive, sensitive literary intelligence through consistent hard work, always going the extra mile. She has supported other students both in her class and as a mentor, sharing her skills and insights generously and skilfully. Her excellent Extended Project Qualification on Poe exemplifies her love of and talent for the subject and is testament to the impressive effort she applies to reach the highest standards.
English Literature - Khadijah Riaz
Khadijah has demonstrated an outstanding attitude and exceptional commitment throughout her study of A level English Literature. Her dedication to her studies has been evident in her work both inside and outside lessons. She has shared her ideas with other students by actively participating in class discussions, to which she has volunteered perceptive contributions; and she has generously supported other students in the class.
English (GCSE) - Shah Samiul Ali
An outstanding student, Samiul’s GCSE result was a testament to his mature approach and dedication. He didn’t miss a single lesson of the course and was always engaged in lessons, keen to participate, produce work to the best possible standard, and take on feedback. Although a loss to the group, I’m delighted that he passed in November and wish him the best in his Science studies.
English (GCSE) - Malaika Asif
It is a pleasure to teach a GCSE resit student who enjoys English and wants to write. It is even better when that student is a genuinely gifted writer. Malaika would always write until her hand hurt and then she would type the rest on her phone. I remember listening to her read out her stories with real interest. I do hope she continues to write and share her gift in the future.
Cooper Journalism First Prize - Hattie Payne
Hattie has won first prize in the 2026 Cooper Journalism competition or her piece entitled ‘Is Social Media Ruining Reading?’ Hattie’s piece is an engaging and original take on social media, arguing that such platforms have turned reading into a performative activity. Hattie suggests, this does not necessarily equate to good writing. A crafted and skillfully structured piece, Hattie’s argument is convincing and eloquently expressed.
Cooper Journalism Second Prize - Megan Hendriks
Megan has achieved second place in the 2026 Cooper Journalism Prize for her piece entitled ‘The Day South Africa Turned Purple’. Megan’s article on women’s rights in South Africa and the activism of ‘Women for Change’ is powerful and well-researched. She has covered a serious topic with maturity and sensitivity, demonstrating a clear understanding of the issues while engaging the reader effectively.
Film Studies - Vicky Adeniyi
Vicky is a confident and passionate Film student, whose love for cinema is clear in every discussion she takes part in. Vicky brings energy, insight and enthusiasm to the classroom. Although her journey in Film has had its ups and downs, Vicky has shown real perseverance and has remained committed to her progress. Her drive, sharp perspectives and bold creativity will undoubtedly lead her to success in whatever path she chooses next.
Film Studies - Jake Barker
Jake is a quiet, thoughtful student, who has approached Film with a steady, methodical work ethic. He consistently takes the time to understand tasks fully and completes his work with care and attention to detail. His calm determination has enabled him to make strong, meaningful progress throughout the course. Jake’s reliability, focus, and quiet confidence make him a truly deserving recipient of recognition for his efforts and achievements.
French - Gab Galletes
Gab is an outstanding student whose unfaltering enthusiasm for French has driven her to achieve top grades throughout the course. Her hard work has always impressed, while her positive outlook and her inquisitive mind has allowed her to understand and explore in depth the French speaking world. Hopefully she will continue speaking French and we wish her a brilliant future.
French - Isla Barnes
Over the last two years, Isla has shown incredible diligence and tenacity to improve her knowledge of the French language, culture and society. Her eagerness to listen to feedback and apply herself accordingly to reach higher grades have been exemplary. We wish her the very best in continuing studying French at university. Her determination will no doubt lead her to great future success.
Further Maths - Raj Ropra
Raj is an extremely involved and active participant in College life, including the Mathematics and Further Mathematics enrichment, and he is an admirably enthusiastic young Mathematician.
Further Maths - Ollie Jervis
Ollie is an extremely strong and intuitive young Mathematician, whose talent for the subject shines through. Well done Ollie.
Geography - Jemima Martin
Jemima is an incredibly hard-working and focussed student, who has always given her all each and every lesson, as well as in homework and assessment. She is an absolute pleasure to have in the classroom and will always push herself to think beyond the obvious, which encourages her classmates to do the same.
Geography - Ethan Wragg
Ethan is a polite and hard-working young man, who has exceptional attendance and has consistently pushes himself to achieve beyond his baseline. He is the perfect example of how to quietly get on with the challenges of A levels with consistency and dedication.
Geology - Aayan Ali
Aayan is an outstanding student of Geology. His exemplary work ethic, dedication to his studies and enthusiasm for the subject is fantastic to see. Aayan has demonstrated a deep knowledge of key concepts throughout the course and is clearly passionate about pursuing Geology at university, where he will undoubtedly be a resounding success.
Geology - Isabelle Kenning
Isabelle has made incredible progress throughout her two years studying Geology. As a new subject to her, she initially found geological concepts and processes challenging but, with hard work and a positive mindset, Isabelle has demonstrated that she can rise to the challenge. She has been an absolute pleasure to teach and deserves every success in her chosen career path.
German - Emily Bennett
Emily has applied herself to her German studies with dedication. She has been fully committed throughout the course, taking every opportunity to further her knowledge of the German language and German-speaking culture.
German - Hannah Zurek
Hannah has been fully committed to her studies in German. When she has faced difficulties, she has been successful in overcoming them with determination. She prepared a very interesting Independent Research project, which was researched thoroughly.
Health & Social Care (BTEC Ext Cert) - Abbie Teague
Abbie has worked hard throughout Year 13 and has done well in both external and internal assessment. She is always punctual and works hard to achieve her goals. Abbie is a thoughtful student and is always willing to support other members of the class in group tasks.
Health & Social Care (BTEC Ext Cert) - Kimberly White
Kimberly has worked hard this year to overcome her personal challenges. She has been very conscientious about completing tasks and worked well within the group. It has been great to see Kimberley’s confidence grow over the two years of the course.
Health & Social Care (BTEC Nat Ext Dip) - Matilda Landon
Matilda has a really good work ethic; she completes tasks to the best of her ability and despite her personal challenges still has good outcomes. She will ask for help if she needs it and is always there to support others in the group. Matilda gained praise from her work experience in Poland, where she became fully immersed when working within an international day nursery.
Health & Social Care (BTEC Nat Ext Dip) - Olivia Hallworth
Olivia has developed through her time on the course and has demonstrated high levels of performance, particularly within her work experience, for which she is commended. Olivia flourished in her most recent placement as her contribution to the support of learners with special educational needs has been invaluable. She received quality feedback and has been invited to apply for a permanent post when she has competed her studies. Olivia also actively took part in a work experience project which took her to Poland, where she was highly praised for her work with elderly residents that also have learning challenges.
History - Hamza Mohamed
Hamza is an outstanding student of History. He is always highly engaged in lessons and often makes superb observations and connections about the past. He has worked diligently to broaden his understanding of historical research in his coursework and strives to consistently improve his practice, whilst supporting others and showing kindness and courtesy at all times. Hamza is an outstanding role model.
History - Christopher Hill
Chris has demonstrated a fantastic work ethic throughout A level History, with real commitment to wider research and evaluation of sources and historical interpretations shown through his coursework essay. Chris is mature in his approach to his studies and has the ability to reflect on and improve his own work and this has strengthened his skills as a historian. He has been a fantastic ambassador for the History department at College and now intends to further his study of History at university.
IT (BTEC Ext Cert) - Mohammad Hassan
Mohammad is a student who shows clear potential and the ability to achieve highly. He consistently produces quality work and is always willing to support his peers when they need assistance. He asks thoughtful questions in class and demonstrates a genuine desire to improve and deepen his understanding of the subject. Mohammad approaches his classwork with a positive attitude and engages well in lessons.
IT (BTEC Ext Cert) - Hafsa Rehman
Hafsa has demonstrated remarkable improvement in her overall progress, showing strong determination and consistent effort. Her achievement of a Merit in the Unit 2 Database exam is a clear reflection of her hard work, resilience and growing confidence in the subject.
IT (BTEC Ext Dip) - Will Thomas
Will is a diligent and motivated student, who consistently strives to put maximum effort into his studies. He is genuinely passionate about the subject and regularly produces work of a high standard. His assessment results reflect both his strong understanding of the content and his commitment to continuous improvement. Will demonstrates maturity, a positive attitude toward learning, and a willingness to act on feedback, all of which contribute to his ongoing success in the course.
IT (BTEC Ext Dip) - Will Broome
This award recognises a truly delightful student, who brings positivity and effort to every lesson. Always punctual, hard-working and unfailingly polite, they approach their BTEC work with maturity and enthusiasm. Their consistent dedication and pleasant attitude make them a pleasure to teach, and their success is fully deserved.
Law - L’Chae Maxwell-Campbell
L’Chae has shown very impressive levels of commitment throughout the A level Law course, demonstrating curiosity and great enthusiasm during both years of the course. She continues to set high standards for herself and is a positive influence on her peers. Every task is completed on time and to the very best of her ability.
Law - Kiyanna Grace Davis
Kiyanna has shown enthusiasm for her studies of Law throughout her two years and has been keen to get involved in a wide range of college activities. She is always positive, works extremely hard and shows an impressive determinations to succeed at all times.
Maths (A level) - Anna Griffiths
Anna has achieved a consistently high standard in Mathematics, which is admirable. Her talent stands out, as does her industriousness. Well done Anna for your numerous achievements.
Maths (A level) - Ben Jackson
Ben has endeavoured to develop a thorough understanding of A level Mathematics and he has become a very strong Mathematician. His understated but determined manner is admirable, as he is not content with non-optimal performances.
Maths (GCSE) - Faith Wilde
Faith worked incredibly hard and showed great determination in the lead up to the November GCSE exams. She focused on consolidating her strengths and tackled her weak topics proactively. She achieved her goal of a grade 4 whilst overcoming additional challenges.
Maths (GCSE) - Marina Sanjari
From the onset, Marina approached the GCSE Mathematics course with a very professional attitude. She demonstrated an adeptness to Mathematics and a determination to succeed that was admirable.
Maths (Core) - Ella Martin
Ella is an incredibly diligent and hard-working student, who always strives to be the best they can possibly be. They consistently ask for extra resources and work the hardest in their class by a landslide.
Maths (Core) - Zahraa Malik
Zahraa has showed great enthusiasm for Core Maths throughout Year 12 and has demonstrated excellent progress. She is polite, hard-working and determined. These attributes have proven successful, as she has consistently strived for continued improvement. Well done Zahraa, you have been amazing all year.
Media Studies - Simran Dahyea
Simran has, in the past two years, shown a sustained passion for learning throughout the A level Media course, coupled with a relentless commitment to improvement. This makes her the perfect candidate to receive this award. Her work ethic and curiosity will stand her in good stead for her future studies and life beyond college. Well done Simran, you deserve all the good fortune that comes your way!
Media Studies - Mya Surti
Mya’s approach to her studies in A level Media has been admirable. Always asking questions, often offering her own perspective, she has been a constant contributor to discussions in class that push both her own and open up others understanding of the subject. These qualities, alongside her diligent approach to her work, mean there is only ever likely to be one outcome for Mya - success. Creative Digital Media Production (BTEC Nat Dip) - Lillia Harvey
Over the past two years, Lillia has shown remarkable growth as a Creative Media student. Her confidence has steadily developed, and with it, her creativity, independence and willingness to challenge herself. She has embraced feedback, pushed her skills further and demonstrated real determination to succeed. As she moves on to her next steps, we wish her every success and have no doubt she will excel in whatever she chooses to pursue.

Alesha is a quietly resilient and consistently hard-working Creative Media student, who approaches every task with focus and determination. She never seeks the spotlight, yet her dedication shines through everything she produces. Reliable, thoughtful, and highly collaborative, Alesha works exceptionally well in a team and contributes positively to every project she is part of. Her calm persistence and commitment to quality make her a truly deserving recipient of this award.
Music - Sophie Brown
Sophie is a talented student, who works hard in all the music study areas: analysis, composition and performance, vocal and on the violin. Sophie, in every lesson you demonstrate high engagement, fantastic creative ideas (composition), musical sensitivity and kindness. Be brave, believe in yourself, you will achieve great things in your life.

Gab is a talented, dedicated and hard-working student with the exceptional skills in music analysis and composition. Gab, you always work with dedication and passion but also kindness, and this will take you far in your life. We are proud of your achievements. Keep being yourself.
Philosophy - Isla Barnes
Isla has demonstrated exceptional commitment to A level Philosophy. She has an enquiring mind, evidenced in her thoughtful questions and contributions to our class discussions. As a result of her strong work ethic, she has flourished throughout the course.

Harry’s commitment to his studies in A level Philosophy is highly commendable. His curiosity, enthusiasm and strong work ethic has led to him thriving throughout the course. Rya’s commitment and engagement in Politics is outstanding both in and out of class. Her work ethic and enthusiasm set the tone for the class. She asks thoughtful questions that open a debate. Her colleagues recognise how hard she works and appreciate her kindness and support if they are struggling.

Aleema has been a dedicated student throughout the entire 2 year course. She always hands in extra essays and questions, which has led to a significant improvement in her psychological writing where she now achieves extremely high marks on all essays. She is completely dedicated to Psychology and will continue her studies at university next year.

Spanish - Mahjabin Rahman
Mahjabin has demonstrated great perseverance in all areas in the subject. She has worked incredibly hard, refining her linguistic skills in both written and spoken Spanish. Her confidence when conveying her arguments in conversation classes has grown considerably, enabling her to articulate them with clarity and conviction. We have very much enjoyed having discussions with Mahjabin on a range of different themes. She is a very valuable member of the class.

Lauren is a very dedicated and committed student. She has demonstrated great determination and enthusiasm for the Spanish language, as well as its culture and society. Her confidence, fluency and pronunciation have improved considerably and now she is able to hold interesting conversations with convincing arguments. She has produced detailed revision notes demonstrating resilience and perseverance. She is sure to be very successful in her future career.
Sport (BTEC Ext Cert) - Sophie Kimber
Sophie is an exemplary Sports student in every regard. She has excelled in every unit of the course, gaining the highest exam grades across the cohort. In addition to her huge work ethic and unwavering commitment, she is of a very cheery, positive and friendly disposition and is always the first to help other students in the class, offering support and advice. She has consistently been a role model for them all to aspire too. Sophie has also been a valued and highly performing member of the College Netball team for the last two years.
Sport (BTEC Ext Cert) - Katie Empson
Katie has made a fantastic contribution to BTEC Sport and to Sport enrichment. She is a true role model and a member of our very successful Netball team. She has also helped the Sports department in all the open events, for which she displays confidence and maturity beyond her years. Ever dependable, Katie has made the most out of her time at the College, even volunteering in The Gambia, which she said was a ‘life changing’ experience.

Lily has been an outstanding student throughout her BTEC Sport course, demonstrating exceptional achievement across every unit and consistently setting the standard for her peers. Her commitment to academic excellence has been evident from the outset, but it is in her examination performance where Lily has truly excelled. She approaches each assessment with maturity, discipline, and a genuine desire to deepen her understanding, which has resulted in consistently high grades that reflect both her knowledge and her work ethic. Lily also completed work experience in Poland in Year 12 and gained high praise and developed as an individual during this time.

Keira has been an excellent student throughout her BTEC Sport course, consistently demonstrating outstanding dedication, focus, and high academic written skills. While she performs strongly across all areas of the course, it is her exceptional written coursework that truly distinguishes her. Keira approaches every assignment with thoughtfulness and precision, producing work that is not only highly detailed, but also analytically rich and firmly rooted in the requirements of each unit. Keira also completed a very successful work experience in Poland, where she demonstrated her baking skills.
Statistics - Mahana Hossain
Mahana has been consistently diligent and she has a very polite yet super keen attitude towards her A level Statistics course. She has endeavoured to complete all independent work on time and has excelled in her key assessments.

Ambassador to the Future - Elham Hassanzada
Elham is an outstanding student. Not only are her attendance and punctuality excellent, but her attitude to her studies has been great too. However, it is her community spirit that particularly sets her apart. She has been a consistent and enthusiastic volunteer at college events and is a highly active member of the community, setting a superb example for fellow learners. She is mature and articulate and has impressed countless prospective students and parents at open days and campus tour events. She is sure to succeed in whatever she sets her mind to.
Ambassador to the Future - Christopher Hill
Chris is an outstanding young man, both in the classroom and as a member of our community. Not only is he an exemplary academic, his attitude to learning is superb. He has been a highly active member of the College community during his time here, volunteering to help out at many College events, such as open days, while also representing Student Council. He was part of the Team Gambia project, raising money for a school in West Africa and representing the College very well on the trip to our school in The Gambia. He has completed so much voluntary work (288 hours in total) that a new category has been created by the Shirley Lions to recognise his achievements; a Platinum award. His kindness, determination and hard work will make him a success in whatever he chooses to do in the futureto.
Global Citizenship Award - Becca Ajibade, Ameera Capper & Hawaa Ahmed
Becca, Ameera and Hawaa have gone above and beyond in their role as Tackling Sexual Harassment student ambassadors. They used their platform to drive meaningful change across the local bus network, ensuring the voices of students are heard and acted upon. Their advocacy has contributed to policy discussions at government level, influencing prevention and safety in schools and colleges. They have also represented the College and the Trust with professionalism and courage across numerous external forums, demonstrating exceptional leadership, integrity, and a commitment to creating a safer community for their peers.
Becca’s compelling Cooper Prize piece on femicide has added an academic and deeply human perspective to this work. Her recommendations are now being discussed at the Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner, demonstrating the real-world influence of her research and courage.
Ameera has also shown exceptional passion and confidence in public speaking, using her voice to empower others and raise awareness around tackling sexual harassment. Her leadership was further demonstrated through her powerful contribution to the Summit #SpeakUp video, where she helped amplify the message of safety, respect, and student advocacy. Her dedication has been recognised by the West Midlands Crime Prevention Unit, reflecting the impact and integrity of her work.
Hawaa has brought artistic skill and creativity to the campaign, producing striking awareness‑raising posters that have amplified the message across the College and wider community.

Extended Project - Sarah Yousafzai
Sarah’s EPQ is a truly outstanding achievement. If ever there was an exemplary project to demonstrate how to attain top marks, then Sarah’s is it. Super organised, comprehensive in every area and brilliantly creative in end product, it was a genuine pleasure to see her EPQ evolve throughout. The final outcome, the artefact, is a hugely impressive children’s picture book which Sarah developed, penned and illustrated in its entirety, all of this based upon her extensive research into Slovak folklore. Brilliant.

Sport (Basketball) - Olajuwon Sosanya
Having started the season as a somewhat quiet and unknown player within the group, Olajuwon quickly showed the type of player he was by securing his position in the starting five as a Year 12 student. He has developed into being one of the vocal leaders on the team and it has been a pleasure to see Olajuwon develop on the court as the year went on. The Coach has expressed his pride in watching Olajuwon develop as a person, even when it has not always been easy, and he is excited to see the young man he continues to develop into.
Sport (Cricket) - Mobeen Hussain
Mobeen was a valued and committed member of the College cricket team. He was a highly motivated individual, attending all the training sessions and never missed a game. He consistently made valuable contributions with ball in hand and was always the first to volunteer to score and help with other team duties, being a team player in the truest sense of the word.
Sport (Men's Football) - Dan Hankinson
Dan is this year’s Player of the Season and has been an exceptional captain, helping the team get to the last 16 of the National Cup. Dan shows real heart and determination in every game and helped the team perform well this season against some well organised opponents. He has acted as a captain beyond the field from the start, by helping the new Year 12 players adapt and feel part of the squad.
Sport (Women's Football) - Natalie Parker
Natalie has grown in confidence over the last two years, not only as an effective player on the field, but also in the way she has welcomed and developed the team ethos with Year 12 students. Her dedication to the team has been demonstrated in several ways, such as being a positive influence in all training and games, playing in different positions and being effective in leading the team in Year 13.
Sport (Netball) - Lily Holtham
Lily has shown dedication over the last two years and has been a standout performer in all games. Her transition into the captaincy this year has been seamless, and she has led with passion and integrity, fostering a cohesive team environment and high morale. Lily serves as an outstanding role model for her peers and we wish her every success in her future netball career.
Sporting Achievement Recognition Award - Daina Donnelly
Daina joined the College as a talented athlete and has developed into a high-level performer gaining international selection in Para Athletics each year. Daina has managed to balance her training schedule and BTEC Sport coursework effortlessly, which has resulted in her achieving an excellent final grade. Daina excelled in her work experience where she supported local school sport competitions, acting as a role model for younger athletes and supporting the organisation and officiating. Daina was also selected as a brand ambassador within Athletics, which further demonstrates her ability and drive to succeed. We look forward to seeing her progression in the future.

Christopher has earned a Platinum Award from the Shirley Lions for more than 250 hours of voluntary work. He was part of Student Council and representing the College as part of the Team Gambia project, together with additional volunteering outside of college.
Staff Award - Maggie Allwood (Catering)
Maggie Allwood is the longest serving member of staff in the College’s history, having worked on campus for almost as long as the college has existed. A dedicated member of the catering team for 49 years, Maggie’s face is recognised by staff and students alike. She has worked diligently in the kitchen, as well as behind the serving counter and on the tills and she has done so with good humour and a willing smile. Everyone in the College community is grateful for her contribution to College life and we will miss her. Few are more deserving of a happy retirement and we wish Maggie well.
Staff Award - Michael Rennie (Business)
Michael enters his well-earned retirement after 8 years of dedicated service to Solihull Sixth Form College. During that time, he has earned the respect and admiration of colleagues and students alike. Michael is a highly regarded colleague, and is always a calm, thoughtful and reassuring presence. He has always been generous with his time, expertise and support, and his many acts of kindness towards colleagues have never gone unnoticed. Students recognise Michael as an outstanding teacher of A-Level Business who teaches with great authority and detailed subject knowledge. Michael leaves behind not only an impressive record of student achievement, but also the respect, friendship and gratitude of those fortunate enough to have worked alongside him. We wish him a long, happy and fulfilling retirement.
Staff Award - Allison Sayer (Humanities)
Allison has made an exceptional contribution to Solihull Sixth Form College over 18 years of service, 10 of them as an Assistant Curriculum Leader. You could not ask for a more trusted colleague, a more supportive team member or a more dependable leader. Allison has consistently placed students at the heart of everything she does, helping countless young people achieve outstanding outcomes and inspiring many to pursue her subject beyond college through higher education and future careers. Her impact on the History department, on the wider college and on the thousands of students she has taught will endure long after her retirement. While she will be greatly missed, she leaves with the gratitude and admiration of colleagues past and present, and with a legacy that will be remembered for many years to come.
Staff Award - Julie Watts (Social Sciences)
Julie is an exceptional teacher and leader. She has led one of the largest and most successful curriculum areas of the college, serving up to 1000 students across four qualifications. She is meticulous, analytical and judicious in her approach to her leadership role and this is coupled with good humour and care for others. In the classroom, students’ learning is challenged, encouraged and supported through the specification and beyond. Julie has earned the respect of many colleagues across the college as an NEU representative because she is knowledgeable, professional and pragmatic in her approach. Julie loves to travel and has already set in motion plans to go to New Zealand. While Julie will be missed, we wish her all the very best on her travels and future adventures.
Staff Award - Janice Hamilton (Vice Principal)
Janice has been a stalwart member of the College community for 29 years. Joining as a teacher of Travel & Tourism, she soon demonstrated her leadership qualities and moved into a management role, where her kindness, dedication and drive ensured she was always a success. A fierce advocate for both students and staff, Janice has worked tirelessly for the benefit of both. Leading the direction of the curriculum in recent years, she has steered the College through a period of great change and her previous experience of marketing made her ideally suited to leading the promotion of the College as well. Since 2013, Janice has led the College’s Team Gambia volunteer project, guiding hundreds of College learners in their fundraising activities and helping them to raise £104,000 for the Abuko Nursery & Lower Basic School in The Gambia. This fundraising has enabled the school to expand and it now comprises of eight classrooms, with almost 300 children benefitting from the facilities. Funds have also seen a library built, a well drilled and teachers and resources paid for. Her efforts have been life changing not only for our students, but for many children in The Gambia too. Janice leaves a lasting legacy at the College – including a building named after her – that will ensure she is not forgotten. We wish her well in her retirement, as she undertakes even more travels.
