Visual Arts & Languages Learners Visit Paris
Visual Arts and Modern Languages learners at Solihull Sixth Form College explored Parisian culture recently when they undertook a 4-day fieldtrip.

During the half-term break, Year 12 A Level Fine Art, Graphics & 3D Design and Photography students were joined by Year 12 BTEC Art & Design Practice and A level French learners for a 4-day residential fieldtrip to Paris.
Their itinerary featured iconic landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame Cathedral, Sacré-Cœur, Montmatre and the Arch de Triomphe, alongside visits to world-renowned museums and galleries including the Louvre, Musée d'Orsay and Rodin Musee. They also immersed themselves in the the arts and Parsian culture.
Students were tasked with assignments during the trip, designed to inspire and inform their creative development. For Visual Arts students this work will directly contribute to their A level Unit 1 assignments or their BTEC B2 Creative Industry Response in Visual Arts, while for A level French learners it will boost their conversational experience.
Creative Arts Curriculum Leader Zoe Maksymiw commented:
"Paris is globally celebrated for its vibrant art scene. This trip offered our students a unique opportunity to engage with both classical and contemporary works, and I’m excited to see how this influences their own artistic journeys."
Modern Languages Assistant Curriculum Leader Carolina Lopez-Garabito added:
"For our A level French students, this was an invaluable chance to practice speaking in real-world settings. While weekly conversation classes are helpful, nothing compares to interacting with native speakers in their own environment. This experience will be a great asset when preparing for oral exams."
