New Student Council Members Appointed
21 community-minded learners at Solihull Sixth Form College have been appointed to Student Council to represent their peers.

The Year 12 students were selected after making presentations to Chair of Governors Jose Lopes, College Principal Martin Sullivan, Student Council Chair Ameera Capper and Student Development Manager Tina Champion. Learners explained why they wanted to join the Student Council Executive and what they hoped to achieve for their peers by joining.
Maysa Khandoker has been appointed Year 12 Chair and will work with the Year 13 Chair Ameera Capper over the next six months. Deputy Vice Chairs are Sebastian Parker-Duber and Ali Bashir, with Sebastian also taking on responsibility for Environmental and Health & Safety concerns. Amelia Giles, Muhammad Dawud and Elham Hassanzada are each working as Charity Officers.
15 young people have been appointed as Student Ambassadors this year and they are Humza Afzal, Ikhlaas Ahmed, Malaika Asif, Moeez Bhatti, Chizaram Dozie-Obiekwe, Maureen Eko, Ishaq Hossain, Sufyaan Hussain, Inayah Idrees, Haniya Jameel, Ramsha Kousar, Hajir Mohamed, Amanda Onyilimba, Medinah Stevens and Abeeha Zainab.
Principal Martin Sullivan commented:
"Well done to all 21 learners who were successful in gaining places on Student Council this year. It was fantastic to see the presentations that these young people gave about why they wanted to be involved. I meet with Student Council regularly and I look forward to hearing their ideas."
The current group of Year 13 learners who make up the Student Council Executive will stay on in their roles for the next term, before taking a back seat to concentrate on their examinations and let Year 12 learners take over.
