Drama students at Solihull Sixth Form College took part in a workshop with a university recently to learn about theatre techniques and expression through movement.
Ildiko Rippel from Worcester University came into College to deliver a fantastic movement-based workshop with Year 12 A level Drama students. They explored techniques by Gecko Theatre Company and learnt ensemble techniques to recreate family photographs.
The workshop followed a visit to the MAC Theatre in Birmingham in January, when the same students saw the University of Worcester’s BlackBox13 Theatre Company production of “Somewhere Waiting For Me”. This production utilised many of the techniques that this workshop explored.
Drama teacher Nadia Kouhi commented:
“Both the visit to the MAC and this workshop in College were brilliant experiences for our first year Drama students. They threw themselves into the workshop and produced some very moving performances representing their own family photographs.”
