It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas at Solihull Sixth Form College, particularly since the College Christmas card arrived on campus.
Year 12 student Fausta Gumbeleviciute designed the College’s official card this year and it features a red fox holding a Christmas bauble in its mouth. Foxes are resident at the Widney Manor Road campus, which is located on the edge of Solihull and close to Brueton Park and Nature Reserve.
Fausta is currently studying A levels in Fine Arts, Biology and Mathematics at the College. Her cards will be sent out to friends of the College, including the local MP, governors, local schools and other stakeholders.
Fausta’s Academic Coach, Sarah Figg, commented:
“We encourage students to develop and showcase a range of skills and embrace every opportunity, and it is encouraging to see Fausta achieve exactly this through her Christmas card design. She is certainly an artist to look out for in the future!”
This is just one of many examples of Visual Arts students producing artwork for wider use around campus. In the past, students have been given live briefs as part of their courses to produce artwork for different areas of the College, including in the Learning Resource Centre. However, this card was produced entirely on the initiative of Fausta.
