College Principal Paul Ashdown commented:

“Well done to all our students on achieving such a brilliant set of results. BTEC grades were confirmed last month, but A level students have had a nervous wait over the summer and now they know their grades they can make their plans for the future. We are proud to have helped so many young people achieve their potential.

“We are particularly pleased with the large number of A* and distinction* grades achieved. These exceptionally high levels of attainment are very difficult to achieve and place our students among the most highly sought after young people by universities and employers. The College is the largest provider of young people to high education in the area. Competition to progress onto university is fierce, but we are proud to help so many to achieve that, including many progressing to the top universities in the country. We have also helped others get onto apprenticeships, training courses and into employment and we are delighted to see such positive outcomes.”

The majority of students at The Sixth Form College, Solihull choose to progress to university and they are progressing to study a huge variety of subjects, from Law and Medicine to Architecture and Engineering and many more. At least five students have confirmed their progression to Oxbridge and Paul Ashdown is especially pleased to see the high level of support the College has given these students paying off.

“Oxbridge hopefuls get lots of support, because they must start their applications so much earlier than everyone else and do so much more to even get an offer. We assist them with practice interviews, support for entrance tests and visits to university open days. I am delighted that all that hard work has paid off and I’m very proud of the students for securing their places. I am equally proud of the number of students who are going to other very highly regarded universities. I congratulate them all and wish them the best of luck for the future.”
