Media students at Solihull Sixth Form College attended a webinar this week concerning feminism in the media.
The webinar was entitled “Leader in Shape” and was delivered by Judith, who is best known for her work in gender theory. Media Studies students study the work of Judith Butler as part of their A level studies. Judith Butler’s text ”Gender Trouble: Feminism and the Subversion of Identity” (1990) revolutionised popular attitudes on gender and remains one of the most talked-about scholarly books of the 20th century, as celebrated as it is controversial.
The British Academy hosted this event, which presented our Media students with an opportunity to hear directly from this renowned theorist and ask questions.
“This was an excellent opportunity our students to hear from one of the most influential figures in shaping the media field.”
