IT Work Experience Develops Skills

IT students at The Sixth Form College, Solihull have been undertaking work experience this term to develop their employability skills.

Both first and second year students on the BTEC IT course took on work experience as part of their studies and many took on placements within the IT industry. The companies they went to were varied and demonstrated the range of jobs available in the IT sector.

Nathan Chamberlain (aged 16 from Birmingham) was one of the students who went out on work experience. He was at real estate company Avison Young. He made such a good impression that he has been invited back and been offered a year’s placement.

The feedback he received was as follows: “Nathan has demonstrated exceptional behaviours and has been a joy to work with. He is courteous, engaging and a good example to the next generation of professionals. He is always extremely well presented and has maintained a professional attitude throughout. We were proud to showcase Nathan to our new business partners Avison Young during the company takeover. Nathan is enthusiastic and we see him having a bright and successful future.”

Assistant Curriculum Leader Rasbinder Gill commented:

“What wonderful feedback we have received about Nathan. I hope he is as proud of himself as we are of him. This experience will stand him in good stead for the future.”

Other work experience destinations included Tenneco, YourPips and Bam Architecture.
