History visit to Warwick

History students at Solihull Sixth Form College visited the University of Warwick recently for a series of lectures.

28 Year 12 A level History students went on the trip and attended lectures on the “History of the Body” and the “History of Art”. they also took part in a sample lesson and had a lecture on “Next Steps” in the Cinema Room. the visit included a tour around the new £50 million Arts Building in the Humanities Faculty and the Arts Centre.

As well as the lectures, the visit offered a great opportunity for students to learn about the Warwick Scholars Scheme, which offers Summer School opportunities and contextual offers. In addition, four university student guides first to third year students) stayed with our students all day and they were able to give a student view of life at Warwick.

Assistant Curriculum Leader Allison Sayer commented:

“It was a very informative day and the students all really enjoyed the experience. As well as the lectures, they took part in a photography competition, getting pictures of the new Arts building, and one of our students won the competition. This student has won two tickets to the Frankenstein Beatbox production at the Warwick Arts Centre.”
