Drama students at The Sixth Form College, Solihull enjoyed a half-day physical theatre workshop from the Frantic Assembly theatre company last month.
During the extensive 6-hour workshop, the first year A level Drama & Theatre students worked up a sweat as they completed exercises with their chosen influential contemporary practitioner for the devised unit of the course, worth 30% of the A level. Three members of the company visited the College to lead the workshop.
Diane Dodd is Assistant Curriculum Leader for Creative Arts. She commented:
“We’ve had Frantic Assembly visit the College before, so I knew this workshop would be beneficial to the students. It was very engaging and the students all enjoyed the practical nature of it. The students were outstanding in their commitment to experiment and push themselves and as a result produced some truly superb movement sequences. The experience will enable the students to attain highly next year.”
Drama & Theatre is one of six courses in the Creative Arts department – A levels are also on offer in Fine Arts, Graphics, Music and Photography, as well as a BTEC Extended Diploma in Art & Design.
