Staff, students and parents at Solihull Sixth Form College got into the mood for Christmas this week, when the annual Christmas Music Concert took place.
Featuring solo and group performances from our talented A level Music students, staff, family and friends came together to bring the Autumn term to a close and celebrate Christmas. The College Choir (consisting of both staff and students) performed some festive songs and there were also audience carols for everyone to join in with.
It was the second concert of the 2019/2020 academic year, following the Heartfield Wharam Scholarship Concert back in October. On that occasion, 11 students auditioned for a bursary to be spent on music tuition of their choice and Alex Polack Kathryn Welch came out on top, each winning £150.
Music Teacher Chris Phelps commented:
“It’s been a busy term, but the students have worked really hard and produced some great performances. We’ve been delighted to see two students successfully audition for prestigious musical places. Petiya Edwards has been given a place with the Royal Birmingham Conservatoire Youth Brass Project and the National Youth Orchestra. Meanwhile, Kathryn Welch got a place with the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra Youth Chorus.”
The next Music Concert takes place at Easter on Wednesday 1 April (7.00pm in H201). Admission will be free, but anyone wishing to attend is urged to get their tickets in advance by contacting Marketing Co-ordinator Bev Bishop by phone (0121 704 2581), email or Tyber (existing students only).
