College Opens Doors for Year 11 Learners
Solihull Sixth Form College is welcoming prospective Year 11 learners onto campus with their parents and carers on Wednesday 27 November for an Open Evening.
The event takes place between 5.00pm – 8.00pm, with last entry at 7.30pm. Prospective learners and their families are being invited to book free timed entry tickets via Eventbrite and these tickets are available here.
Each of our A level, BTEC and T level courses will be represented by teachers and students, who will be able to talk knowledgeably and enthusiastic about the Level 3 courses and answer questions for our guests. They will also be showcasing our summer exam results, which included 1,218 A*/A and Distinction*/Distinction grades at A level, CACHE Childcare and BTEC, as well as a pass rate at A level of 98%, with 75% A* - C grades. At BTEC, the pass rate was 99.9% and 97% achieved high grades (Merit and above), while all CACHE Childcare students got top grades. 32 courses enjoyed a 100% pass rate.
As well as meeting current learners and teachers, visitors will also be able to see our outstanding facilities, including a brand-new building for Psychology. In addition, information about support services such as careers guidance, personal development, financial support and additional learning support will also be available.
College Principal Dr Martin Sullivan will be delivering presentations throughout the evening, offering visitors the opportunity to learn more about the learning culture of the College and the way we support our learners while they are with us and in searching for a positive post-College destination.
The Principal commented:
“Solihull Sixth Form College is a highly aspirations destination for the young people of Solihull and Birmingham. We rightly have a reputation for high academic standards and superb support for young people progressing onto university, apprenticeships, further training and employment. We had a hugely successful Open Day in October and this is another opportunity for learners and their families to see for themselves what makes us such a desirable post-16 destination.”
