The Sixth Form College, Solihull hosted a video conferenced lecture from The University of Sheffield on Wednesday 2nd November.
Entitled Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in a Global Context, the lecture fitted in with the A level Business course looking at the external environment. Second Year Business students took part, along with students from a school in Gloucester. The students looked at the attitudes to Corporate Social Responsibility across the globe, but in particular in the emerging economies.
Tim Goss, Curriculum Leader for Business & Law, commented:
“This was an excellent opportunity for Business students to take part in an interactive event, pitched at undergraduate level, in a style that will prepare many of them for Business degrees.
“We thank the University of Sheffield for hosting the lecture. This was the first ‘streamed’ lecture from a university that the department had accessed and we hope to develop this during the remainder of the academic year.”
As well as the A level Business course, the College offers a BTEC Extended Diploma in Business, as well as an A level in Law. There is also both a Business Academy and a Law Academy for students to apply to join as an enrichment option. These academies include links with Aston University, giving students yet more chances to interact with Higher Education, preparing them for whatever they go onto after College.
