Visual Arts Alumni at Solihull Sixth Form College came back into College at the end of term to talk about their experiences with current students.
The ex-students, who are all studying Visual Arts courses at university made presentations to Year 12 A level Photography and BTEC Art & Design Practice students.
Among the students who took part was Mollie Rycroft Stanley, who left the College in 2019, having achieved a Triple Distinction* in her BTEC studies. She is now in her second year of a BA (Hons) degree in Graphic Design at Birmingham City University.
Former classmate Jade Durling was also present. She too achieved a Triple Distinction* on the BTEC course when she was at College and she has since progressed to Birmingham City University to study Textile Design (Embroidery). She is also currently in her second year of study.
Meanwhile, Safwan Chowdary left the College last summer after finishing his A levels, including achieving an A* in Photography. He has continued his photographic study by progressing onto a (BA (Hons) Fashion Photography degree at Falmouth University, where he is in his first year.
Creative Arts Curriculum Leader Zoe Maksymiw commented:
“We are so grateful to Mollie, Jade and Safwan for giving up their time to come back into College. They were outstanding students when they were with us and it is no surprise that they are thriving at university now. Their progression provided our current Year 12 students with a lot of inspiration and practical advice ahead of them starting their own Higher Education applications this autumn.”
