A former BTEC Art & Design student at The Sixth Form College, Solihull is celebrating getting her designs picked up by a major trade show in Europe.
Ellie Trifonos left the College in 2018, having achieved a Triple Distinction* on her BTEC Extended Diploma Art & Design course and went on to Birmingham City University to study Textile Design. Her designs are being used at the FESPA trade show in Birmingham, where the designs are being used on table tops and on the front desk of the exhibition.
The FESPA Global Print Expo is Europe’s largest speciality print exhibition for screen and digital wide format print, textile printing and signage solutions and is currently taking place in Munich.
The former Alderbrook School student secured top prize in the annual Arts Society Arden awards during her time at the College. Her impressive textile design skills were evident then, when her fabric palm tree design caught the eye of the judges to win the top prize.
BTEC Art & Design teacher Pam Basra commented:
“I’m delighted for Ellie that she is doing so well, but not surprised. Her talent was evident when she was with us last year and it’s good to see she is going from strength to strength now that she is at university. I wish her more success in the future.”
As well as BTEC Art & Design, the Visual Arts department at the College offers A levels in Fine Art, Graphics and Photography.
