Student Support
On joining us you will be assigned a personal tutor who will help you get the most out of your time in College. We pride ourselves in providing a first-class pastoral care system, which means you will be given all the help you need in achieving your goals. As a student here you can expect regular meetings with your tutor to discuss your progress and future plans. You will also attend weekly group tutorials which keep you informed about events in College and help you to plan your next steps. Targets are set and regularly reviewed so that you are clear about the progress you are making. Parents are kept fully informed about your progress.
Our learning support team can also help you with your work. This help includes support with study skills, help with getting organised, number work, communications and dyslexia support. Students with disabilities are an integral part of our community and we clarify all special learning needs prior to enrolment so there is a smooth start to college. The team offers support in classes, through workshops and in one-to-one sessions.
We also have a number of specialist support services which are available to you. These include careers advice, counselling, a student welfare advisor, a work experience co-ordinator, a chaplain and a youth worker. You will find them friendly and supportive.
We can also provide help with applications for financial support, such as Education Maintenance Allowance (EMAs) or Learner Support Fund Awards. Our student financial advisors are always willing to help.
