FAQ - Part 2
6. How do I apply?
We prefer students to apply online our online application form can be accessed by clicking here.
If you are from one of our partner schools, (Alderbrook, Hall Green, Langley, Light Hall, Lode Heath, Lyndon and Yardleys Schools) your school will give you a prospectus and application form and will return your application to the College for you. If you are from another school, your school may still have a supply for prospectuses and application forms. However, if they do not please either download a prospectus and application form from this website, or call the Admissions Office on 0121 709 7803 to request a prospectus and application form and then return your completed form to us yourself. We will request a reference from your school and then you will be invited to the College for an interview to discuss your application and subject choices.
Please be aware that the College is oversubscribed with applications from students wishing to study here. To give yourself the best opportunity of gaining a place, please ensure you return your completed application form as swiftly as possible. The deadline for applications is 30 March. Priority is given to students from our partner schools, then to applicants who live within the Borough of Solihull and then to students from our affiliate schools.

9. What is the difference between A Level and applied courses?
A Level is mostly assessed by external exams, the amount of coursework is one-third or less in nearly all subjects. All Applied courses are BTEC Extended Diplomas, which are entirely coursework (Art & Design, Business, Health & Social Care, IT Practitioners, Performing Arts, Applied Sciences and Sport).
10. Are applied courses easier than A Levels?
No. They have different demands. For applied courses you need to be able to organise yourself to complete coursework assignments to deadlines. In many courses you also need to be able to work well with others.
