Twilight Tasters in 17 Courses

Solihull Sixth Form College is holding a series of Twilight Taster sessions this autumn to give learners an opportunity to try out A level and BTEC courses before they make an application.

Nine such sessions are taking place in October and November, giving current GCSE learners the chance to get a taste of 17 different Level 3 courses on offer at the College. All the tasters take place after school and involve lessons of between 50 – 90 minutes in duration with specialist teachers in a variety of subject areas. Other like-minded learners from across Birmingham and Solihull will be present too.

College Vice Principal Janice Hamilton commented, “Taster sessions are a lot of fun, but they are also very helpful to learners who are unsure of their post-16 ambitions. These events give learners an opportunity to see what A level and BTEC lessons are like and see if particular courses would suit them. I would urge learners to sign up to these and our Open Day on Saturday 15 October to help them make decisions for their futures.”

The sessions taking place are:

Modern Languages (French, German & Spanish) – Monday 31 October 2022 (5.00 – 6.00pm)
English Language – Thursday 3 November 2022 (5.00 – 6.00pm)
Visual Arts (Art & Design – Fine Art, Graphics & 3D Design, Photography pathways – A level & BTEC options) – Thursday 10 November 2022 (5.00 – 6.00pm)
BTEC Creative Digital Media Production – Tuesday 15 November (5.00 – 6.00pm)
BTEC IT – Tuesday 15 November (5.00 – 6.00pm)
Earth Studies (Geography & Geology) – Thursday 17 November (5.00 – 6.00pm)

Philosophy & Religious Studies – Thursday 17 November (5.00 – 6.00pm)
Performing Arts (Drama & Music) – Tuesday 29 November (5.00 – 6.30pm)

The tasters are for learners only (not parents/carers) and it is necessary to book a place here.

Those wishing to also book a place at the Open Day on Saturday 15 October can do so on the Eventbrite website. All learners attending the Open Day must come accompanied by a parent/carer.
