Full House For "The Wicked Lady"

Big hair, wild costumes and dramatic make-up have been the order of the day at The Sixth Form College, Solihull this week, as Performing Arts students put on a production of “The Wicked Lady” to full houses.

The Wicked LAdy

The Wicked LAdyBased on a 1945 film starring Margaret Lockwood, the first year students on the BTEC Performing Arts Extended Diploma course have been telling the tale of a nobleman's wife who secretly becomes a highwayman for the excitement.

The story is based on the novel “The Life and Death of the Wicked Lady Skelton” by Magdalen King-Hall, which in turn, was based upon the disputed events surrounding the life of Lady Katherine Ferrers, the wife of a major landowner in Markyate on the main London - Birmingham road.

The production ran on Monday and Wednesday nights this week, in front of packed audiences at the Widney Manor Road campus.

It is just one of several performing arts events happening before Easter. The Performing Arts students are also putting on a show of “Oliver” at the Edge Theatre at Alderbrook School on the 7, 8 and 9 March at 7.00pm. Tickets for this show cost £5 for adults and £3 for concessions – call 0121 704 2581 for more information.
