Performing Arts Students Bring 1940s America To Life

First year BTEC Performing Arts students at The Sixth Form College, Solihull entertained audiences with a portrayal of 1940s
Two performances taking place in the Drama Studio at the College at lunchtime and in the evening explored the world of a woman in the 1940s era, where beauty and perfection were a woman’s obsession and the pressures of being a woman were at their highest.
Set in New York City, the production centred on the life of Evelyn McHale (played by Hannah Owen), as the students took the audience on a journey through her life, experiencing Evelyn’s memories of love, home life and her romantic affairs.
The performance included dance, physical theatre and stylised movement and the students were assessed on it for their BTEC Performing Arts course.
Performing Arts teacher Diane Dodd said, “The production was very well received, which is wonderful because the students worked really hard on it. There were some funny moments, but also some dramatic scenes and the students portrayed them very well.”
There will be other Performing Arts productions throughout the Spring and Summer terms.
