Student Support
The College is committed to providing pastoral, as well as academic, support. This means that assistance is offered to those students that need it, whether it be learning support, help for those students with disabilities or merely offering students the opportunity to participating in other activities.Enrichment
This is the activities that the College offers for students to participate alongside their normal programme of studies. Some students participate in competitive sports teams, including football, rugby, hockey and basketball teams. Other students enjoy sport for purely recreational reasons. These activities include indoor football, badminton, squash, table tennis, outdoor basketball, tennis and aerobics.
Other enrichment options include participating in music, drama or art activities or learning a new foreign language.
Tutorial
You will be assigned a personal tutor who will help you get the most out of your time in College. You can expect regular meetings with your tutor to discuss your progress and future plans. Weekly group tutorials help to keep students informed about events in College.
Learning Support
The learning support team helps students with their work. This might include English lessons or extra study sessions. The team offers support in classes, through workshops and in one-to-one sessions.
Specialist Support
There are a number of specialist services available to all students. This support includes help with accommodation and getting to know the area, advice on registering with local health services, support in organising your finances, careers advice, a multi-faith chaplaincy and counselling. A youth worker is also available, who will organise social activities and visits to local places of interest. You will find our staff friendly and supportive.
Academic Guidance
This provides structured support for students through their time at the College. It is designed to help students complete their programme of study successfully and to make informed choices about progression. This includes target setting, regular monitoring and help in applying for university or employment.
Careers
All students are entitled to make use of the careers interview service on a self-referral basis, or may be referred by tutors. The College has two qualified careers advisors and an extensive careers library. Help is available with job search, UCAS applications, career planning and interview techniques.
