Our examination results in 2008 were above the national average.
- 100% pass rate in 38 advanced level courses
- 479 students gained all higher grades at A Level (A-C) or advanced vocational level
- 111 students obtained at least 3 A grades at A Level or double distinction in advanced vocational courses
- 3 students were ranked in the top 5 in the UK in individual subjects
- 74 students have gained places at Oxford and Cambridge universities in the last six years
- On average more than 850 students progress onto university every year, including studying courses like medicine and law
Progression
The College has a long tradition of helping our students gain access to university. A number of our students progress to Oxford or Cambridge - more than 70 have done so in the last six years alone - while others choose to follow courses at Universities across the country.
- More than 850 students from the Class of 2008 progressed onto university to study a variety of different courses. Of these:
- 99 students earned places at other prestigious, traditional universities, including Birmingham, Bristol, Nottingham and Warwick.
- 103 students progressed to university to study science-related courses, including medicine, dentistry and pharmacy.
- 34 students went to university to read Law.
- 136 students went to university to study Management/Business-related courses.
- 37 students progressed to university to study Engineering.
Students are successful in gaining entry to a wide range of opportunities including professional training schemes with high profile companies, as well as a variety of Modern Apprenticeships.
Former Students
Many of our former students have gone on to achieve great success and are nationally acclaimed within their chosen field.
Our former students include eminent doctors, a chief executive of a major national retail company, a director of a national sporting institution, television personalities, head teachers and lawyers.
