10. What is the difference between A Level and advanced vocational courses?
A Level is mostly assessed by external exams, the amount of coursework is one-third or less in nearly all subjects. Vocational courses are of two types: National Diplomas, which are entirely coursework (Art & Design, Business, IT Practitioners, Media, Performing Arts, Applied Sciences and Sport) and equivalent to three A Levels; Applied A Levels, which are two-thirds coursework and one-third exams (Health & Social Care).Click here to return to the question list.
