Basketball Academy Look To The Future
On Saturday The Sixth Form College Solihull Basketball Academy went to The Hotel, London to an exhibition set up by the Fulbright Commission.
The event was aimed at showing the students the progression routes available for those players who wish to continue with the sport of basketball beyond College, with a particular emphasis on the opportunities available in the United States of America, where basketball is among the most popular sports.
Over 150 Colleges from the USA were represented, from Harvard to small Junior Colleges, enabling the students to see the vast differences.
Along with the individual colleges giving information about their institutions, there were seminars on the application process, finance and sporting scholarships to help students understand the criteria needed to attend college in the USA.
"The boys were buzzing on the way back," Coach Richard Parker commented. "The exhibition gave them, a taste of what is on offer whilst enhancing the level of achievement necessary to achieve a scholarship."
